Apple’s iconic co-founder, Steve Jobs’ birthday is today and CEO Tim Cook has taken to X to post a moving message. It would have been Jobs’ 70th birthday today. He was born in 1955. Among the many achievements of Jobs are his exquisite attention to detail, user privacy, safety and security and utility. From the iconic Mac PCs, iPods to iPhones, Jobs created some of the most loved gadgets ever produced by any company. Not just that, through his legacy, he has ensured that Apple remains a thriving company that is arguably rated as the best company in the world across all metrics, including for the quite materialistic shareholders.
In his post on X, Cook referred to all this and more, saying, “Steve saw the world not just as it was, but as it could be. His vision continues to inspire us to push boundaries and create the future. Today, on his 70th birthday, we honor his legacy and his enduring impact.”
One reaction in particular on Cook’s post may well have won Jobs’ approval for cutting through what is insignificant in life and getting to the very heart of the matter. boisselle@seanboisselle posted, “Happy Bday Steve. May we use your tools for more than just ordering shitty food and destroying our attention span.”
Another post indicated Jobs impact on the world. @pitogo said, “HBD Steve! You changed the world and it still continues.”
On Jobs’ impact on the personal scale was acknowledged @_digifox, who posted, “Steve Jobs was a true legend! He literally changed my life, the life of all of us! Thank you Steve, Rest in Peace!”
Tim Cook himself had encapsulated all of these in his post on Jobs’ 69th birthday. He had posted, “…the lives he touched, the vision he shared, and the profound impact he had on the world.”
The products that Jobs built were so qualitatively superior and eye-ball grabbing they have become iconic tech and design landmarks. The impact on the global public can be seen even today as Apple’s gadgets are the most-followed on the Internet and any upcoming launch draws the kind of long-term interest that is generally restricted to global living celebrities. The latest being the launch of the iPhone 16e.
Here is one of Jobs’ most iconic quotes: “Stay hungry. Stay foolish.”
So, go figure!
RIP, Steve Jobs.
