Asia Market Update: Trade Mixed; Traders Focus On US Tariff Announcement

Asia-Pacific Markets were trading on a mixed note with shallow movement Wednesday morning as traders focused on development on tariff front. US President Donald Trump will announce reciprocal tariff and other levies from Wednesday. These policies will come into effect immediately after the announcement.

As of 7:44 a.m., the Nikkei 225 and Hang Seng were trading 0.11% and 0.23% down, respectively. The S&P ASX 200 was 0.16% higher.

US Market Update: Most Share Indices End Higher As Rise In Technology Shares Support 

Most share indices erased losses to end Tuesday on a positive note tracking gains in technology companies’ share. Uncertainty over how’ll reciprocal tariff policies play out continued to weigh on investors’ sentiment.

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite ended 0.38% and 0.87% higher, respectively. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.03% down.

GIFT Nifty Near 23,300; SJVN, JSW Energy, Dabur India Share Prices In Focus

The GIFT Nifty was trading near 23,300 in early trade on Wednesday. SJVN Ltd., JSW Energy Ltd., and Dabur India Ltd. were in focus during the news flow overnight.

The GIFT Nifty was trading 0.15% or 34.50 points higher at 23,320.00 as of 7:08 a.m.

On Tuesday, the benchmark equity indices closed lower for the second consecutive session, weighed down by HDFC Bank Ltd. and ICICI Bank Ltd. The NSE Nifty 50 ended 353.65 points or 1.5% down at 23,165.70, the lowest level since March 20. The BSE Sensex closed 1,390.41 points or 1.80% lower at 76,024.51, the lowest since March 21.
