Stock Market Today: Goldman Sachs On Container Corp
Goldman Sachs has maintained a “Sell” rating on Container Corp of India, with a revised target price of Rs 710, down from the previous target of Rs 851, indicating a potential downside of 16%. The firm believes that the company’s earnings may face further downside due to weak growth in rail traffic. Concerns about Container Corp market share persist amid increasing competition, and there are ongoing worries about potential earnings downgrades.
Despite the recent correction in the stock price, Goldman Sachs sees additional downside risks. They also note that Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd.’s dominant presence in the port sector could allow them to capture market share from incumbents like Container Corp of India. Furthermore, even after the correction, the stock is trading at 20.5x FY26 EV/EBITDA, which is above the long-term median multiple of 18.5x.
