Stock Market Live: Nifty Slips Below 22,000, Sensex Falls Over 300 Points; Paytm, CEAT In Focus

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex opened lower on Tuesday taking cues from the global markets. The Nifty 50 opened 0.67% down at 21,974.45 and the Sensex was down 0.37% at 72,817.34. Nifty is set to break 28-year record with fall in five consecutive months.

“Nifty has immediate support at 22,000, followed by 21,850 and 21,600, while resistance is placed at 22,500, 22,600, and 22,800. A breakdown below 22,000 could accelerate selling pressure toward 21,800, whereas a recovery above 22,500 might trigger a relief rally. ,” said Mandar Bhojane, Research Analyst Choice Broking.

At pre-open, the NSE Nifty 50 was trading 111.65 points or 0.65% lower at 21974.45. The BSE Sensex was 0.55% lower at 72,817.34.

The Nifty March futures were down 0.06% to 22,259.80 at a premium of 140.5 points, with the open interest up 0.24%.

The open interest distribution for the Nifty 50 March 6 expiry series indicated most activity at 23,000 call strikes, and the 20,800 put strikes had the maximum open interest.

The US Dollar index is up 0.05% at 106.6.

Euro was up 0.06% at 0.9541.

Pound was down 0.11% at 1.2690.

Yen was down 0.15% at 149.27.

Stock Market News: GIFT Nifty Indicates Negative Start

The GIFT Nifty was trading near 22,000 early Tuesday. The futures contract based on the benchmark Nifty 50 was down 0.73% at 22,096 as of 7:40 a.m. indicating a negative start for the Indian markets.

The NSE Nifty 50 ended 420.35 points, or 1.86% lower at 22,124.70, while the BSE Sensex closed 1,414.33 points or 1.9% down at 73,198.10. During the day, Nifty fell as much as 1.95% to 22,104.85, while Sensex dropped 1.97% to 73,141.27.
