Most markets in Asia-Pacific were trading higher on Tuesday, tracking a rebound on Wall Street. The Nikkei 225 and Kospi were trading 0.43% and 1.49% higher, respectively as of 7:24 a.m.
The Hang Seng and CSI 300 were trading 0.71% and 0.04% higher, respectively.
On Monday, the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 1.00% and 0.55% up, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.14% down.
The June future contract of the brent crude was trading 0.16% higher at $74.86 a barrel as of 7:14 a.m. The dollar index was trading 0.05% down at 104.15 as of 7:16 a.m. The Bloomberg spot was trading 0.37% higher at $3,135.20 an ounce as of 7:25 a.m., according to data on Bloomberg.
The Nifty snapped its five-month losing streak and the Sensex paused its three-month declining spree even as the benchmark equity indices ended with losses on Friday. The markets were closed on Monday on the occasion of Eid.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 72.60 points or 0.31% lower at 23,519.35, while the BSE Sensex closed 191.51 points, or 0.25% down at 77,414.92. During the day, Nifty fell as much as 0.60% to 23,450.20, while the Sensex fell 0.54% to 77,185.62.
Foreign portfolio investors turned net sellers on Friday after sixth session, as they sold equities worth Rs 4,352.8 crore. Domestic institutional investors remained net buyers for the second consecutive day and mopped up equities worth Rs 7,646.5 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
