Most Asian share indices were trading in losses Wednesday, as more tariff announcements from the US weighed on the risk sentiments. As of 6:43 a.m., the Nikkei 225 was flat at 39,272.05. The S&P ASX 200 was 0.32% down at 8,453.70.
The Kospi was trading 1.78% higher at 2,673.28.
On Tuesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 ended 0.02% and 0.24% higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 0.07% higher.
The brent crude was trading 0.21% higher at $76 a barrel as of 6:51 a.m. Gold was trading 0.12% down at $2,932.42 an ounce.
The GIFT Nifty was trading 0.04% or 8.50 points down at 22,963.50 as of 7:01 a.m.
India’s key market indices ended slightly lower on Tuesday, reversing earlier losses. Information technology and oil and gas companies gained, but consumer durables and autos were under pressure.
The Nifty 50 closed 14.2 points, or 0.06% down, at 22,945.3, while the Sensex closed 29.47 points, or 0.04% lower, at 75,967.39. Intraday, the Nifty declined 0.69% before finding critical support at 22,800, while the Sensex fell 0.61% to remain just above 75,500.
Foreign portfolio investors were net buyers of Indian shares on Tuesday after nine consecutive sessions of selling, purchasing stocks worth around Rs 4,786.6 crore.
Domestic institutional investors remained net buyers for the 10th consecutive session, collecting equities worth Rs 3,072.2 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
According to NSE figures, the FPIs acquired stocks worth Rs 14,537.68 crore and sold equities worth Rs 9,751.12 crore.
The Indian rupee closed weaker on Tuesday, as it slipped by seven paise to close at 86.95 against the US dollar, according to data shared by news agency Bloomberg.
